Inviting Death

Inviting Death

A Poem by Warren L.G De Mills

Death breathes it's lively breath

Prevailing against all vanity in life

Surpassing the strongholds Sorrow

calming grief, joy and pain

Death would you lay with me

Bereave me of my earthly woes

Lift me from the nightly throes

Lay me down to rest in peace

Forever this silent solitude

Shall be unfathomable

To all those still breathing

And those soon to come

Vain is all the laughter

As vain are all the smiles

For it soon will turn pain

The Joy will turn to grief

"How I long for the freedom

Of knowing nothing of my travail

How I yearn for this careworn heart

To forsake every emotion learnt"

"O death will your cold caress

accept the warmest invitation

My warm skin longs for your

Frozen embrace of Ignorance

And of Bliss....”

Wow, I was reading this jaw open, intensely into this:P Wonderful! Though sad, heartbroken even, but so well written:)

I love this! Beautiful piece. It's also how i look at death. I know people fear it. But to me, somehow i find peace in it. Not that I want to end my life..but there are times where i've had my breakdowns and death gave me comfort. But of course, i'd love to achieve my goals before my time.. but overall, that's up to fate. And this poem made me feel melancholy yet simple joy in it because I can relate. I love this and i enjoyed it! Thanks for writing.

Warren, this poem makes me think of my 100 year old aunt, just before she died. Beautiful choice of words.

For certain people in certain circumstances, death is a mercy.

Death can be welcoming, and again death can be something you don't want to face. Nice read indeed.
