Eternal Dawn

Eternal Dawn

A Poem by Warren L.G De Mills

Breath goes Subtly

In the stillness of night

Softly and easily

A death without a fight

What a joy it is

To so ignorantly go

What an ease it brings

To die and not even know

When wind blows east

Then pauses in the west

Then we are deceased

Then we are at rest

Devoid of earthly cares

Gone are all our woes

No dreams no nightmares

Everything just goes

Then we are one with silence

When we cease to exist

No need for direction and guidance

In this sleep we can't resist

And as the living mourn

Because now we are gone

Never to see the morn

Enraptured by an eternal dawn

An ode to death, not in sad way but simply to the point. Says much in favor of the author for this calm and tranquil presentation of a topic most would find unnerving --and succedes in bringing ease to the reader. I really like the rhyme and metering in this, and especially the play on meanings of mourn and morn. Nice poem!

where others may think this poem is dark, i would disagree. it has a quality of serenity about it, and i absolutely agree with it. great piece.

I only wish my daughter's passing could have been as peaceful as this.

It's where we go after we die that I'm curious about. Very nicely written. Favorite stanza:

Devoid of earthly cares
Gone are all our woes
No dreams no nightmares
Everything just goes

I love the perspective, can't say I welcome death myself, however I do like how different your perspective is. It's so peaceful. It is also well written, simply, yet thoughtfully, and its flows well. All it all, great work.

Death, A topic most people will shy away from. Not you. You cover the topic with a soft blanket that eases the blow of the subject matter. You invite the reader into a warm and comfortable place and you don't pull the rug out from under them when they realize what they have just read. Very well done friend.

What a peaceful way to die, in our sleep when we're already at rest!
