Christ's Plea

Christ's Plea

A Poem by Warren L.G De Mills

beautiful bride, love of my life there is only you

I lay down my life of glory and run to hold your hand

caress your face and kiss your cheek, but you turned away

you toss aside my glory, for the kings of a foreign land

they flatter flawlessly, your heart succumbs

weak words without substance win weak hearts

but yours is fearfully and wonderfully made

All together lovely, perfect, the finest of arts

lies are sores on your guilty tongue

fornication is the pimple of your blemished face

perfectly flawed, flawlessly imperfect

your ways are crooked as your mates

you are the object of my sincerest affection

no number of hyperbolic amplifications can describe

my never ending love, you have all my attention

flawed as you may be, i still love you, do you still love me?

This is downright profound in the relationship of Jesus with his Church. Like all marriages, you can fall in and out and back in love with God--as individuals or as a church. (I know that one first-hand). God's love, however, never changes; like a river of love founded at the beginning of time, going back even before the Beginning, as its known. Beautiful work, sir.

Your title serves as a clue to what you want readers to glean from this and I like your theme here. It is interesting the perspective your narrator is speaking from also. Bride of Christ is a familiar phrase, but I never quite pictured it being manifested in this way. I can see though many things here that I can relate to Christ's sufferings and sacrifices. There's alot to like about this piece, I especially like that you've used all lower case type.
