The EncounterA Poem by Warren L.G De MillsA fantasy about dabbling in black magic and confronting the devilUpon those shores in the nightly hours Came the nemesis of all that is good and fair In the crumbling cave under moonlit glow Must our blood be shed and our vows be said To meet requirements of sacraments of old A bond was made for the offer laid In the form of a lying scroll in sand The maiden wailed, a sacrifice chained To the marble alter, to satisfy this man All innocence shall be forever stained Opiate scenes of evanescent dreams Reflecting everything grim From turbulent tides and desperate cries To the cathartic yellowing grin The water waned and retreated upon his descent A power so mighty and a beauty once divine With the wry smile of the deceased, Demons lay at his incandescent feet. With the fostering finger he pointed at me, With the lips of lies he whispered deceit Oh! what a dark angel of light! The message of the thawing winter's dawn This fawning liar breathed Proclamations of death, famine and scorn As his toes met the sea he made the decree To shower my life with opulent splendor And lagoons of despair and miserable agony A basic contract supposedly blessing me The waves receded as I refused This erudite man will do what he can To survive and encounter with evil Lo and behold this withered man Lies cold and stiff at the devils hand © 2011 Warren L.G De MillsAuthor's Note
