Story of The World

Story of The World

A Poem by Warren L.G De Mills

flowers are bowing down in pathetic sorrow
trapped in a spherical pit of pain within this gloomy place
stone monuments erected to remember them tomorrow
the unfortunate billions soon to be gone without a trace

Another one is thrown to the rabid jackals daily
left to be devoured at night when they awake
in the sight of all the evil black birds and black cats
and all other creepy crawling creatures of the midnight sky

Lo! my eyes behold an apathetic eulogy
full of empty accomplishments brimming vanity's epitome
saying at the top" Here lie they ,still walking among the living today
who sold their souls to morticians caught in their trepidation"

the only sound breaking the striking stillness of silence here
is the sporadic screech to the ears, the crinkling cry of a grieving God
lamenting the loss of those to whom he had shown a long suffering love
As he perceives the spectacle, people caught up in daily life
Flaunting our achievements as if we'd attained them on our own

This world is a pit full of people forsaking their worth
And resolving to sin and darkness like a flower bowing its head
Enthralled by its own demise hiding the true beauty
Perennially locked within the seals of its petals

Like Jackals lurking in the dark, demons linger in the pit
forever seeking those whom they may devour
while the lost are already deceived to superstition and fables
lurking in a dark and rigid atheistic circle of meaninglessness

Like an alarming cry disturbing the flowers from their yielding slumber
God cries out desperate to acquire the attention of the superstitious
and yoke them to understanding and repentance but the graves
are well decorated beautifully arrayed with spices incenses
God's cry whistles past deaf ears distracted by the harmonic symphonies
Singing songs of lust pestilence famine and death

I like the feeling of being walked through a pathway from my kitch straight into the intimacy of your deep understanding.

Great than flying there ,and having a beer.

I like this because it has an even flow..like good vs.evil.. or life vs. death.. It's a perfect depiction of all and both.. Very well written..xx

Now this is amazing Biblical in essence and beauty, the dark truths of modern society caught forever in words etched deep on stone standing side by side with others forgotten voices in the graveyard of existence. Beautifully done W, keep em' coming
