A Growing Idea

A Growing Idea

A Poem by WaronIdiocy

A Growing Idea

One seed.

A minuscule grain of life,

Placed into fertile ground,

Remembered and cared for,

Bursts forth from its earthen bedsheets,

Green and vibrant.

Now struggling to grow higher.

Thin and flexible, susceptible to change.

Rooting deeper never to be moved.

Surpassing others close by,

Higher and stronger

Demanding to be seen and accounted for.

A majestic creature gains needy friends along the way.

It becomes a shelter for those in need of its gifts.

Providing shelter and food

Stretching its branches to its farthest reaches to welcome all under its care

Those underneath fill with adoration of this tree.

They will defend it to the end.

Long after death the tree stands.

A dry husk of its former self

Remembered fondly by its defenders.

Some guard it still.

Once left alone it falls, shaking the earth with its weight.

Providing sustenance for sprouts of its kind.
