Follow Me

Follow Me

A Poem by Cameron Victor-Anguigh Warner
"

For my Love.

"

Be still, do not test of he,

An angel with burned wings, fly free

But angel not, he is to me,

The devil, or a demon be.

With lost grey eyes,

And rasping breath,

A mouth of sweet

Fine words be said,

“Come follow me,

Into the deep,

And mind not

What they say of thee.”

To hell, I’d tread,

To night, I’d wed,

To lips, I’d touch,

My soul, I’d thrust.

I left my body long ago,

To follow him, this path we’d sow,

And still his voice, it beckons me,

“Come follow me, into the deep.”

Very nice. I love rhyming (really? yes. I learned about poetry reading Dr. Suess sitting on the floor of the Bookmobile during its weekly visit) and the Poet here does and does not do it in the same piece. Stanzas 2 and 4 are powerful and visual. To some this work would be esoteric or worse, vague. Not so! It speaks to the Lonely, the Visionary, the Outcast, the Lover. Those of us who see the Unusual and Weird as Family Members.
