I Miss You

I Miss You

A Poem by Baby Boy

It's been a whole year and yet still ma I cry

As I sit and I ponder why the good people die

Every ounce of the love in my heart comes from you

The sky always seems black and it's no longer blue

Day after day I still try and live life

I laugh and I smile with every strength of my might

Truth is it's a front for I'm messed up inside

My shell is still here yet I don't feel alive

It's so easy to say that you have to move on

And I used to believe that until you were gone

The 20th of March was the last time we spoke

You closed your sweet eyes and you no longer woke

You promised you'd be there on my last birthday

And you were, for I buried you on that dark day

The 27th of March is the reason I cry

It's the day I was born yet the day that I died

So I walk around now with a hole in my heart

And it hurts so damn much that we're so far apart

But I still have the memories of just me and you

For you dwell in my soul ma, and yes that's so true

Your beautiful face is forever in my mind

The only one I knew that was always so kind

You taught me to love and be all I can be

Yes you gave me life and you taught me to see

To see that this life is not promised to us

For the cancer took over and it stole all my trust

So all I can do now is honor your name

And see what you've seen for our eyes are the same

I'm living my life and I need you to know

That my feelings are warm though this world is so cold

I miss you so much and I'll see you again

My mother, my mentor, my very best friend

I know you look down on me all through the night

I still see your beauty although not in sight

Your heart  is inside me and never will die

I'll see you real soon ma, I'll never say goodbye

I wish I could comfort you in some small way for such a devastational loss! Your mother at such a young age taken--she is surely in heaven and enjoying peace and no sickness or pain. May God bless you and give you strength. Your whole poem is complete love and I know your Ma is so proud of this tribute! I'm saving this to my favorites.
Your writing is overflowing with your true love for your mother! This is one of the nicest poems I have ever read.

This was very beautiful. I believe I read it before but either way, each time it brings tears to my eyes. I know there is nothing I can really say to make you feel better about your loss, but just know that your mother would be so proud of you.

This is really a beautiful poem. I lost my son a year ago and my pain is still fresh. I can relate as my mom also died from cancer ten years ago, and my dad passed two years ago. I don't believe the heartache ever goes away. My prayers go out to you sincerely. Thank you for sharing your wonderful writing. Debileah

Oh my goodness. I am so sorry for your loss, but I don't think you could have conveyed your feelings, your grief or your love for your mom any better than you have in this poem. This was beautiful, heartfelt and I'm bawling right now as I write this. You obviously had one wonderful woman as a "ma" because the writing you chose to honor her with, is sincere and .. achingly gorgeous. Again... I am sorry but I'm sure she's in heaven so proud of her son.

this is very beautiful and palpably sad. The veil between here and there is very thin and permeable...love passes through easily and love never dies.

darn it...I am so very sorry for your loss. I have said it before, I know. But I truly am. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
This poem is excellent and a wonderful tribute to your ma. It is elegant and smooth, full of love and pain.
You are very talented.

wow... this made tears come to my eyes.
its exactly how i felt when my aunt died. she was basically my mama
but a better one. i loved her so dearly. and i just i dont know this really
touched me. i especially liked the this line "And see what you've seen for our eyes are the same"
it was so heart felt and i felt the connection you had with your mom.
