Just another construction

Just another construction

A Poem by Want2Write

I stare taking in every feature of every passerby
some see it as rude others as a compliment
each face is purposefully unique so I do myself no justice in longing for that smile, those eyes and woah that hair
I reminisce upon an image of a plasticine woman pulling her face into appropriate alternatives and long to do the same
made in my own perceived image of perfection I would be wonderful and shameless
but such longing only exists at the glance of each individual
the longer I stare the greater the imperfections I notice
that smile is forced, the eyes tired and the hair broken and damaged
how ironic we stare longing for what we do not have
only to realise the trade only comes with greater dissatisfaction as the features are no better or worse than our own
we do not choose the initial construction of ourselves yet we choose distaste over self love
positive self image is not a majestic ideal but just another construction, one we do not readily choose... we are all wonderful and so should live shamelessly.
