Death boat

Death boat

A Poem by Wannabewriter16
"

It's about a boat accident I was in at the young age of 16

"
There's air so close, but I cannot breathe
The fear of strangling myself with something that use to be so fun
further down I sink, this seems almost like a bad dream, I can see death happening around me even though I cannot help him
the cold is starting to affect my circulation,
it's harder to hold everyone up
I'm hanging onto my lifeline by a strand, fear pulling me down,my body shaking,my heart hammering, lungs aching,
I close my eyes a say a prayer
the water around me begins to calm
I breach and breathe in deeply,
allowing the outside world back into my senses then help arises.

When I was just 16 my mom, uncle,a friend and I was on a boat in the middle of lake chickasha in Oklahoma when the boat started ta king on water. The pump had failed my uncle tried to jump over the side but only having a single leg it was caught on some rope and his leg hit the side of the boat as he went over the side causing him to snap his leg while I grabbed my little cousin my mom and friend who wasn't able to swim and saved them.....well I'm sure you guys can figure out what happened.

incredible story ..flows smooth ..i think the closing is strong and that moment of "breaching" and feeling at the end of ones rope .. is just that time that salvation arrives ..in so many situations .. your uncle's leg was broken ... did he heal up ok? ... do you guys ever get together and celebrate your victory over that death boat .... and i am curious (sorry) what happened to the boat? so glad you are all ok

What gut-wrenching poem and story! This is an unimaginable horror, except for the person who lived it--and survived. Now, it's a stream of nightmares, I would imagine.

From beginning to end, you keep the reader close, if not in the water, in another boat, watching this horror play out. The fight is what stands out most, though. Your mind saying "not today!" An amazing story of strength and resilience, during and after this tragedy. Thank you for sharing this poem and story.

I have the entire story on here of what exactly happened if you'd like to read it. A scary memory.
