That First KissA Poem by WaterColorPandapoem about a first kiss That first kiss
that makes all the difference between people who didn't know they
were open for differences can shine forever in memories that are
often so easily corrupted except for this one nail of experience that
pins it to your reality forever so that you might forget the place
and the time and the weather but the feeling of lips that were
dangerously connecting, lips that were confused as to whether they
should pucker or smile because they wanted to do both equally and so
accomplished neither well, that feeling remains as the sole landmark
in a mind that could never be sure of where it was and so until now
has only aimed to be sure of where it was not. That First kiss that cannot move mountains but can release mountains of change from inside you sending landslides over your face and arms as hot ash erupts from your lungs with each breath of air that is full of her smell and her life that burrows canyons out of the flat places in your being landscaping an entire new world that pioneers explore, name, and measure, but that you are happy simply to be a part of without expectation or understanding. That first kiss
without a safety net that you know might break an arm or a leg or a
heart should it fall but that you accept fully because you've learned
how to fall safely by now and you always heal up right. That first kiss that can out last the sun, casting graffiti out into the night sky that any respectful person would call the candles of God but that makes disrespectful people call the authorities with reports of “Vandals of the Dark” who are making it hard to sleep, in their beds unconscious of the Starry Starry Night being pained outside their window. That First Kiss is the proof that you have not been a fool to believe in something bigger out there that you may have once known from a distant dream but now you force yourself to remember because you don't ever want to forget what this feels like for fear that someday you might stop looking and settle for something less because you are tired and you hope to god that you don't grow tired too soon as this is worth staying young for. That first kiss is right, in the way that everything is right if you think about it long enough or don't think about it at all and that first kiss is what made every shard of time different like a thousand snowflakes sharpened to cut you loose from yourselves. © 2011 WaterColorPandaAuthor's Note
