Nothing Else Matters

Nothing Else Matters

A Poem by WanderingJane

That moment right before you fall asleep

That moment

All your worries turn to nothing

All your stress turns to nothing

All you problems turn to nothing

In that moment

when everything just fades away into your mind

your heart and breathing slows

and your thoughts disappear

Now

Nothing else matters

All you’ve been

All you are

All you’re going to be

only belongs to your dreams

as it fades away

Some people travel their entire day

for that one, brief moment

but you don’t realize it’s there

not until it is gone and you are lost in sleep

It is the most content moment

Free from worries

Free from stress

Free from problems

because right before you fall asleep

Nothing else matters

this structure works so well and the use of second person convinces and almost commands the reader to submit to a sense of tranquility. it is a gentle reminder of how at the end of the day, amongst this vast world we inhabit, our actions and thoughts are so small and will eventually vanish entirely
