Different

Different

A Poem by A. V. Madison
"

A spoken word I wrote and was sitting here unpublished for months because I was always too afraid to post it, but Jamillet's spoken word gave me the confidence to :)

"
I look at people although they are fonts.
Each entirely different, each entirely the same.
They are capable of posting the same letters
abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz
but they all look different.
they are just FOnTs.
Every emotion coming out.
every emotion coming out but in
different ways and different meanings and different thoughts and different words and different people.
You wouldn't know this about me but I am not a fan of the word differentbecauseIFiAMnotAfanOFtheWORDdifferentTHENdoes that make me

different?
if you stand in front of a mirror and say the word different over and over again
different
different
different
different
different
different
different
different
different
different
different
then it starts kind of sounding like mush, doesn't it?It sounds different than the normal word.
because it is.
it is DiFfErEnT.

they tell us in school that it's okay to be different and that being different helps you change the rules and being different makes the world a better place because people love the idea of different but don't like different PEOPLE.
WE WANT TO FIT IN, BUT SOCIETY DOESN'T ALLOW different PEOPLE TO JOIN THEIR RANKS AND BE THE SAME.

i don't want to go to school, because there i am different and different gets you nowhere.
i don't want my children to go to school someday and scrutinized because they are different and i don't want my grandchildren to be put through that either.

your parents tell you that it's okay to not fit in because you are unique, but it's not.
maybe it was when they were in school but it's
not the same anymore.

it's not until one of us commits
suicide
until you actually listen to what we have to say because

i said it before
i will say it again
being different gets you either shoved in a corner and ignored or doomed to a life of solitude because no one really wants to be friends with someone who is
different.

Ingenious write Maddie, and the format is killer. It's tough being different when you're young, you want to fit in and be like everyone else. I love the idea of thinking along the lines of 'fonts'...yes, people all have the same emotions and are capable of much the same, but all look at life differently and are different by nature. You're not different my love, you're unique, I can tell by your heart and your poetry. Fool kids that are too stupid to see.

The issue on bullying is not quite easy to discuss. But you have presented it in a very unique way... Creatively different, i like it!

Thanks Saratoga :)
This poem was amazing 10/10 for creativity and presentation a lone. I really enjoyed the fonts and what you did with that. I also really related to the message and how it kind of relates to how people kind of expect you to conform and these different groups and ranks that exist within society. I really enjoyed reading this. Thank you for such beautiful work.
