Dull Creativity (Ramona)A Chapter by A. V. MadisonIt's all over the papers. "Murdered 7," Yelps one. "Was it a murder-suicide? Or has the alleged killer gone into hiding?" Screams another.
"Washington Bank on the corner of Elton Road and First..."
"Busted open the door and began killing at random..."
"Witnesses say there was tears in her eyes...."
"Some say she screamed "For Asher!","For Ramona", and "For Rayce"..."
"Bodies were so shredded that out of the murdered 7 people, only 4 identified..."
"Families of murdered speak out "Death Penalty!"
"After an alleged abuse by a schoolmate Asher..."
"Only murdering those who had green eyes, like her abusive boyfriend Asher..."
"A search warrant issued to the family of JAYCE LEONARD..."
It went on. And on. And on. And on. It was in the Maryland Word, the New York Times, the Sacramento Bee... it was on the front page of ever major news paper in inland America. "Clearly it was an attack on Asher," Rayce said, "Besides, she told me at the eighth grade graduation ceremony something about robbing a bank to go ot the Bahamas, Hawaii, Catalina Islands, etc... this was the place were she said we should go. To rob, I mean." I flipped through more of the papers to find something about money being stolen. Rayce was so impatient he took the papers from me and searched them himself. I fell onto the soft, pillowy texture of Rayce's bedspread. My index finger traced patterns around the the black and white stripes. "What are we going to do, Rayce? She could be anywhere. She could already be arrested!" I wiped a tear from my face. "Ramona, we just have to stay calm. Everything is going to be alright..." He chucked the papers to the side- they joined a meter high pile of other newspapers. "We've checked everything. Magazines, the Internet- we took every keyword in the history of forever to find information and People magazine knew nothing more than me. She could literally be dead, Rayce. Face it." "We could check the evening news again." Rayce suggested, "Couldn't hurt." "I doubt there's anything new on-" "OH MY GOD! MY BABY!" Mrs. Leonard shouted from the living room, "MY BABY... IN AN ORANGE JUMPSUIT! NO!" I leaped off the bed and hit the ground running so fast I almost forgot to turn the doorknob to exit Rayce's room. Rayce's deeply policitally uncorrect room. "What?" Rayce and I yelled almost in unison. "She's... arrested!" Mrs. Leonard cried. "We're is she being held?" Rayce asked to no one in particular, turning up the volume on the televison. "... Jayce Leonard, alleged murderer of the following: Wilson Tentson, Alison Markley, David Britorre, and Yolanda Harris- those being the only ones identified sincethe masscre four days ago- is going on trial in three weeks. She is currently being held in Maryland Penitentiary, under close supervision. The fourteen-year-old's only statement so far is, "Are you happy now, Rayce? I'm gone, just like you wanted!". After investigation, Rayce Leonard was found her twin brother. Police are organizing to meet with the families of those lost, and the Leonards to uncover more facts. This is Reid Winston, reporting to you live from outside the Supreme Courthouse for NBC Nightly News. Thank you, and back to you, Sam." © 2012 A. V. Madison |
