That Word Is Called You

That Word Is Called You

A Poem by A. V. Madison

There's a word for the hell you made me go through.

It's called sitting on your lap while you brushed my hair.

It's called eating candy from your palm at the dentist.

It's called the burden you make me carry everywhere.

There's a word for the harsh things you said.

It's called your empty promises and treason.

And I won't come back to you.

Unless murder is my reason.

You stole everything I ever had.

You cut me so deep it made me go mad.

And there's a word for the heartache you caused me every night.

It's called smashing myself through all the windows in sight.

There's a word for insanity, you see.

And since then, that word has been me.

There's a word for never ever staying true.

Though some might differ, that word is called you.
