Fire Against FireA Poem by A. V. MadisonFate brings her roses every evening to night Sitting here she's lost about an inch off her height because this disease is killing her quietly everyday and the doctor says they don't how long she will stay
But the diamonds on her cheeks and the heat of her skin says otherwise even if she is so sickeningly thin this fighter will over come Satan's every nightmarish desire her will to live is like fire against fire
Oh and she knows it all to well to die she's given so much morphine she practically high and the sun sets out her window and she falls asleep she wonders if she'll wake and this thought makes her weep
To abandon her loved ones in a time of fear when the deathbed is so frighteningly near she holds onto the bedframe so she doesn't go any higher and her will to live is like fire against fire
This child holds my hand because she knows it well I sing her a lullaby of heaven, not hell because this baby girl of only 13 years knows the devil isn't deserving of her almost-dry tears
