Skyscraper

Skyscraper

A Poem by A. V. Madison
"

A spoken word I wrote yesterday.

"
I want to be like
a skyscraper
To look down at the world
as a sentinel
To stand tall above my peers
but still watch the magnificent stars too

To be bold and brave
to see and be seen
to not only watch
but to someday be watched.

To hold my head high
rather than staring at the ground.
To be as strong as the steel I am made of,
rather than crumble like the river stones
that make me now.

To let no one be above me
and call me names any longer.
To wrap a tourniquet around the present,
and stop the future
from flowing in.

For decades and centuries
to be perpetually
perfect.
To stand frozen in time,
yielding not to age.

To let the walls hold the memories,
instead of me.
To forever be nothing but a
skyscraper.

Amazing work, with a perfect metaphor for humans secret desire for admiration and perfection. I can not even comment anything slightly negative because it is too perfect. Great job!

Very nice.

Loved this line:

"To be bold and brave
to see and be seen
to not only watch
but to someday be watched."

Enjoyed it. Thank you.
