Break Your Own Heart

Break Your Own Heart

A Poem by A. V. Madison

(Verse One)
And she's sitting on the ground
when nobody's around
and the sun sets
but she don't move
because how is she
supposed to leave
when the bottom
is all she knows

(Bridge)
She don't wanna be
the second best
she just wants this burden
off her chest
and to be wrapped up
in his  arms
and to hear the words
"I love you"

(Chorus)
but still she thinks
how can I be loved
this atrocity
that owns me
I'm the only
thing I know
that can break their
own heart

(Verse 2)
standing at a broken door
the ceiling staring at the floor
like she stares up at the clouds
and wishing she would
feel like she's proud
but she don't wanna be
lied to, no more
so if in fact anyone says
that they love her
it'd be a lie
'cause she's so blinded by
her hate
that she can't barely function
at heaven's gate

(Chorus)
but still she thinks
how can I be loved
this atrocity
that owns me
I'm the only
thing I know
that can break their
own heart

(Repeat Bridge)
(Repeat Chorus)

I wish I could write music. The poem moved with a purpose. I like the emotion and the desire in the words. The good description allowed the reader to feel the thoughts and the journey. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

That's awesome... o.o Aw, I hate losing my voice. Then again, it's not that great anyway.
