Tethered

Tethered

A Poem by A. V. Madison
"

One of the first poems I ever wrote.

"

Went through a satanic phase

unable to breathe, unable to turn the page

I'm not lucky anymore, I'm not even average

taking the last pieces of childhood and hoping they'll salvage

A taped up broken heart that I wear on my sleeve

giving me another reason not to leave

stitched back up, hope it'll stay

the bones in my knees are giving way

I would be in tears before I got a sentence out

and you would be saddened, I have no doubt

so that's my reason to keep to myself

just lasting out long enough to satiate oneself.

Author's Note

A. V. Madison
This piece is a huge part in the reason I'm a writer. It was written in 2008, and
it's a sentimental reminder that I can win any battle I have.
