What Happened To Maddie?

What Happened To Maddie?

A Poem by A. V. Madison
"

I seem to be asking myself the same question...

"

What happened to the bright-eyed, redhaired little girl?

who used to have her brown eyelashes up in a curl?

who used to bring people flowers when they were sick?

I guess something someone said just decided to stick.

What happened to the 5'7" green-eyed little kid?

that something you said just blew off her lid?

because now all she does is sit in her home

with her music turned up loud, she is all alone

what happened to the girl who used to plant roses?

who would never sleep in class, but now she dozes?

what happened to the sister, the friend, the daughter?

what happened to Maddie? Guess that girl is no longer.

I ask myself the same thing too... You have expressed your feeling so well with delicate words and a gripping rhyming scheme. Questions left unanswered, feeling forsaken in this bog wide world. Amazing poem, keep writing!

Anytime:)
In your delicate dance of words you confess the melting of innocence into life's legacy... how it taints us and paints us with darker hues... And the questions make me believe that Maddie might just be sitting in the shadows waiting for the sun to shine again.

Thanks Craig.
I think many people ask themselves that question sometimes. I know I do, and actually wrote about it too. It seems to make it easier, by making your old self almost as if they are their own separate being. Very well done. You have a talent for writing poetry for sure.
