Cheers

Cheers

A Poem by A. V. Madison

I remember a time

when people weren't so blind

when people didn't sell their bodies

to old men that called them hotties

When men didn't wear their pants around their knees

or when preteen boys stole their neighbor's car keys

When all you heard was classic rock on the radio

Turn up some Aerosmith on the stereo

When Purple Rain ruled the planet

not some weird Skrillex fanatics

when it was about the music & beats

not rap about sex that men got off the streets

So cheers to me, and cheers to you

Maybe tomorrow the sky won't be blue

because I'm tired of hearing rap on every other station

Where's the true music, people? Or does sex rule the nation?

Again, excellent tight construction. Have you thought about writing and selling lyrics?

But, being the world's oldest dubstep fanatic, I have to defend the adorable Skrillex - he's a genius, imo.

Thanks, Lorry.
amen! music has gone down hill over the years. but for odd reasons mainstream sells. the people who condemn it are also the people who buy it. kinda weird. but seriously a very great and truthful poem. well done.

Well, I'd kind of like the Beach Boys back. But life moves on, girl; life moves on.

Damn girl this is great, especially coming from someone your age... I love that you admire the classic stuff... i was raised in the 80's and will say I miss those days. and not just my youth but the music and styles. It was a funner time. I raise my glass to you... Cheers.
