Bimarian

Bimarian

A Poem by Jennifer Hopkins
"

bimarian adj (1731 -1731): pertaining to two seas

"
Dawn light tides in
Threatening the edges
Of tight shut curtains
And eyes
As the rhythmic wave of your chest
Clings to the last hopes of sleep.

You are my safety line
And I could reside encircled
In your arms forever,
If you would keep me.

I have docked
In this bed that has harboured
Love-wanted abandon.
Caught in your rigging,
You have become my mainstay
And my course would be for naught
If you were to leave now.

This serendipitous voyage
Has brought me to you
And I am lost in your sea.
