Rudolph the ReindeerA Poem by Wandering VioletPoor old Rudolph. He was getting old and wished he could stay home on Christmas Eve with the elves, eating Christmas cake and watching TV.
Rudolph was a reindeer Who didn't like the snow It gave his knees arthritis And his nose a ruby glow.
The elves put on a party All their hard work was done But Rudolph had to go out And miss the food and fun.
Santa's sleigh was heavy The night was growing late Rudolph eyed the pitbull Snarling at the gate.
Old Santa seemed untroubled And set about his work Rudolph was scared of darkness Where ghosts and spooks might lurk.
He whined with much frustration At being left alone Then from the chimney depths There came an awful groan.
Rudolph watched in horror As clouds of smoke appeared Santa staggered out With a considerably shorter beard.
As they left the township A siren began to wail The Police breath-tested Santa And said it was a Fail.
They went off to the station And put Santa in a cell They fed the reindeer cake Which made him feel unwell. © 2011 Wandering VioletAuthor's Note
