Robots

Robots

A Poem by Rebekah Smith
"

Written 30:11:2011; my opinion remains the same.

"
I wonder how they view me,
Through sightless eyes;
No opinions that are pure or justified -
They're all brainwashed robots,
Tainted copies of one another.
Did I break
Your 'perfect' stereotypical mould?
GOOD.
Damn it all!
I'll fight for my individuality!
Your spirit has been broken,
Merely sculpted to their will -
Your shattered heart lays,
Splayed in misshapen chunks
Upon the empty, sterile ground.
Inside, you're dying.
Deep within, your suppressed rage is screaming
At the oblivious, soul-less masses.

Yet still, I wade through despair,
Devouring my discomfort...
Just to catch a glimpse of that shimmering, gilded light,
And bask in the splendour of freedom & glory.
