A Poem by Wallflorist
"

A poem for midnight walkers

"

I seek the stillness of an unlit road

Though there may be an end,

there is none in sight

no horizon

There is something beautiful about the gloom here

there are no shadows,

there is no light to cast them

The breeze remains,

subtle but strong,

easing me forward

Not that I need to be eased,

I go willingly,

comfortable in every step,

each lighter than the last

Without the light my other senses do not heighten

the hairs upon my neck do not bristle,

they quiet, soften, settle into peaceful numbness

I am content

I need not be

There is nothing for me to hide from

nothing behind me that I wish to escape

nothing I dread to return to

I am content

The darkness simply calls to me

in quiet solitude I find a sense of peace

a space without light to cast doubt

Simply still

my thoughts go nowhere

I simply am

A place without time

without light

without shadows

To be

Just be

Blessed is one who can just be. All the rest is dissolving and flowing away.

Your words excite me: to know that one doesn't have to be blazing or brazen in perpetual neon, is a comfort. To know that someone else finds peace in just being, uncluttered by the flaws that bright light exposes is a comfort. To know that your words portray a canvas without paint allowing the artist to paint his or her own.. when needing to.

Many thanks for sharing this - excuse me, enlightening poem is for me, incredible.
