STORM IN A FLOWER

I always thought I’d see you on another day

Now I’ll never get that high

I remember when you beat the clowns

We were down in town

And I laughed so hard I cried .

You my friend

were a storm in a flower

taking on the days

that had no sun or sound

my sweet friend

a storm in a flower

taking all that dreaming down.

I’ll remember you

that easy summer night

how we spoke of sadness

then drank ourselves from sight

I never knew how much you stirred

or how it burnt your eyes

but now I know . I think I know

the way you saw the skies

You my friend

were a storm in a flower

taking on the days

that had no sun or sound

my sweet friend

a storm in a flower

taking all that dreaming down.

Not for you

it was not for you how people said

you’d lose your head in all that fog and mist

we saw their arrows miss

and leave our field of view

we thought we knew

we could never lose

now the day breaks without you

.. my friend were a storm in a flower

I’ll think of you

when the feel goes blue without a beat

my sweet friend

a storm in a flower

in a sour world

we all want to be sweet

This is such a haunting but lovely tribute to your friend. I love the “storm in a flower” way you describe this person. On the outside, flowers are so beautiful and placing a storm inside one tells me there was much turmoil that many may not have seen. Thought provoking poem for sure. Great job!
