Strength

Strength

A Poem by Skye
"

Your past does not define you

"
I'm terrified of my reaction
Performing just the perfect shyness
Nervousness enthralling thus far
Deep inside my heart and head
I'm reeling, drifting lost in space
Fear and insecurities hidden before now
Rise to form an oily film
Overshadowing my frail happiness
I don't want to be afraid
I don't want to soil this moment
But dark thoughts have hold of my ankle
Pulling me deeper than I've ever been
Raising vengeful questions
Demanding selfless answers
My life is my own to lead
I'm drawing on my strength
This evil will not control me
I'd rather die than play into
His waiting, filthy hands

i like the personification of that dark part of us that tries to dissuade us from moving forward...that part of us that is darkness and cast a shadow over us and tries to control us.

nicely penned.

About
Sometimes, I forget my passion underneath the demands of life and want of perfection. Then there are those nights where everything is clear, and I can't help but write what I feel. I love meeting .. more..
