Lonely Little Dove

Lonely Little Dove

A Poem by Skye

The lonely dove it sits and waits

Quietly up in the tree

It watches lovers look their last

As each and every one embrace

It cooes so softly, no one hears

But one little girl

With blue bows in her hair

"Here little dovey."

She calls to it gently

But he dare not

Ruffle even a feather

The boat by the dock

Calls out its last warning

People scurry past

But the girl stays

There right by the dove

As it cooes so heartbrokenly
