Like Dreamers Do

Like Dreamers Do

A Poem by Michael Wade

Give me a minute
and I'll give you the free,
songbird hope of this innocent
boy glee.

This poor old dog,
well he dreamed and dreamed,
and well there he still sits,
dying and dreaming away.

And if you ask me,
ain't nothing quite so bad,
as these sleepy-eyed kids
just dreaming of days.

Cause the wretched little souls
will just dream and dream away.
So I'll just lay back on my front porch
and wonder of the day,
when these boys will stop their dreaming
and get on with the today.

I like the easiness of this "process", because actually the author is in dreamlike thought while depicting the dreamers! Could be that author shares the common guilt? Interesting and I wonder if you thought of that angle?

I prefer simple-word poetry. I always have. Thus, this one appeals to me, and is a rewarding read.
Nice job here.

a writing filled with candor layered with undercurrents of softly impressed message that seeps gently through~ reveries are fine in and of themselves but if there is no volition to manifest the dreams into reality they are just light seed pods that never land anywhere to take root and bloom~ I like the light yet thoughtful composition of your poem very much~

I like this, dreaming is fine, but not if you dream your life away. We all need to live for today and just let life happen.

Great Job .. !

I love it... dreaming of what is to come without doing anything to make it happen? There are a few words that seem a little out of place (i.e. "boy glee"), but other than that... Good Job! *tags poem with shiny star sticker*
