my fingers hurt
and the auditorium grew
ready in the dark.

If the stage of Life was for the banal and the "day to day " stuff. Going to do something as simple as changing a light bulb can be perceived as a scene in the "Festival of the Burlesque" were the person on the first row is hoping that you will do something silly who knows it could make her or his day!
An unexpected accident a moment of pain even which brins a little seriousness and discomfort, pitty there is no one to clap.

Just think though, if this were a spy movie or crime scene, you'd never be finger printed if your tips are burnt and worn.
