An Awakening Transition

An Awakening Transition

A Poem by Wabbajack
"

Just some stuff that's been on my mind as my life has been going through some changes.

"
The clock keeps ticking and the moment is here
I wake up and finally realize how real you really were
and are
and always will be
You're beautiful and wise
and as wise as you are beautiful
as the traces of ink and word run rampant from your heart
to flow out onto the pages that few see,
but all who see can relate.
The loneliness was lonely,
but only when I was looking away from your face
to search for myths and legends and fairy tales
about a princess who was never mine, despite my princely status.
Who, then, is to say that a prince can't rebel
against the ideas and norms that
seek to keep him away from the commoner girl
who he's grown so fond of?
Only the prince himself,
as he remembers how human all humans are,
and always were, and in the end,
we're all just dust in the ground succeeded by
the legacy that our life has caused.
Why would the prince choose a princess who's legacy he doesn't know,
over a beautiful commoner who's legacy he admires?
The heart cares not for politics anyway.
Even if I don't just throw the world away
for the sake of running away with you
to a world of just the two of us (a tempting thought),
that common girl can always become queen.
Mayhaps, she already is, as she could very well be
the queen of my heart...
Given time, we will see,
but at least for me,
hope might be, again,
a very real thing.

When I wrote "the heart cares not for politics anyway," I laughed for a solid minute or two before I could continue writing. I don't know why its so damn funny, but it is.
