Intro to Me

Intro to Me

A Story by Wabbajack

This is what I wrote for my "Intro to me" for Composition 1 Online.

"
Why is it that whenever someone asks you to tell a little about yourself just right out of the blue, the mind suddenly goes blank? I think its an absurd psychological thing. It's kind of like having so many questions going through your head at once that you don't know which to ask first. I guess it's also a lot like being the person who knows everything about a certain subject and having someone say to you, "Tell me about it." The tech support guy on the other end of the phone isn't going to understand your problem if all you say is, "Fix my computer." So it looks like I finally have a point forming from my rant: I seem to be philisophical. I'm a thinker, a wonderer, and a dreamer. I rather like knowledge, it can be a fun toy to play around with.

I also like bigfoot, likely for the same reason that many others do; the mystery! Despite what people say about bigfoot being a "proven hoax," an alien, an interdemensional being, or any other theories out there, I simply believe that the truth is what it is, and always will be. Humanity should be more focused on discovering that truth as it is, rather than they're own bias. I was originally pointed toward bigfoot as a cryptozoological creature in a short book about the Loch Ness Monster, and though I had never seen one, I believed. I believed because it was something new, frightening, and intruiging, but mostly, I believed because I was young.

Over the years my enthusiasm faded, and bigfoot was eventually left forgotten somewhere in the deepest reaches of my mind. When I first discovered the show Finding Bigfoot on Animal Planet, the enthusiasm was rekindled. After two years of internet research, a dream of mine had finally come true. During the summer of 2013, (yes, that recent!) I had the fortune to hear my friend's personal tale of a bigfoot encounter that took place right here in my own neighborhood! A few months later I had my own encounters, both with the same entity. Am I a madman? Perhaps, though if that is the case then I officially request the appropriate blue box to accompany my new title. Am I a perpetrator of a renowned hoax? I suggest people find grounds to question my credibility before claiming such a thing.  Am I misidentifying a person? It's certainly possible, though doubtful that the Olympic speeds required could be found in the small town of Boone. Am I rambling? A bit, yes. However, thanks to the bigfoot mystery I am considering a career in Primatology.

I am also considering an English degree. I love to write, even if I write a thousand words about nothing. Words have power. They can change the tide of a mob, or the ripple of a mind. They can be powerful and bold, or quiet and suggestive. Words are the Eighth Wonder of the World. For example, the same phrase can have two different meanings based on context. If a story is telling the reader about a person who is tearful and sad, and that person says, "I'm fine," it means something quite different than if a person who is happy says it. Yet, if the person is in an apathetic mood, it has yet another meaning that differs from the other two.

Like many others, I wish to write and publish a book. Actually, a series of novels. What do you mean what are they about? Why all the meddling questions? Okay fine. The short answer is hope. The medium answer would be the phrase, "That which is lost can be found again." The long answer? All of the coolest, modern day supernatural horror monsters and then some! It's a dark, urban fantasy!

...Okay, empty white space, it's time for you to stop bugging me now. I've only had two hours of sleep in the past 36 hours, and I must recharge. Oh and one last thing to note; writing is about more than what you present. It's also about how you present it.

Well... it certainly seems like you have quite a lot to say. Not that that is a bad thing. You've gone off on a couple of tangents, but really, who doesn't? I'd never heard anyone say that words are the eighth wonder of the world, but now i think about it, I totally agree with you on it. That they can be used to do pretty much anything and everything from harming and healing, to bringing down an establishment, and raising a new one. Its a kind of magic if you think about it.
You've introduced elements of yourself into his as well. ("Okay, empty white space") humour is great, especially if it draws people to read something further, which is useful in a persuasive-ish piece like this.
in short. excellent. :)
