Owned By Alarm

Owned By Alarm

A Poem by Jason

Safe. Warm. Owned by alarm.

Swallowed by the storm

Yet safe from democracy

Saved by the satisfaction of

All of our reactions; so tough

Wrapped up in a mental monopoly

Regret nothing as you stand in that dust

And pray to the fire, as you hide from dusk

I feel that I’ve felt what I found before

But all that I found was there is a door behind the door

And forward and onward; Awkward and scorned

May we have been so alone, since the day we were born?

Somehow, I found the time within my mind to rescue ME

Have you seen the path that leads you from your dreams?

Forged at the bottom of your vision it reads…

Will you take my hand and follow the beast?

Gunshots blaze from the south side of the pasture

Shall we still claim to be of democratic master?

Now that I’ve opened myself to my losses, I can see

That behind every door is a mirror, and me

With a smile and a wink, as a symbol that I failed

I feel that shutting the door should only tip the scale

I’m not insane, I swear I’m not really dreaming…

I’m not really here, soon you too shall be seeing…

I’m not insane, I swear I have passion…

Although you may think in a different fashion

Without a mirror and a door, you couldn’t fathom

But I swear I’m not insane, just close your eyes and imagine

"I’m not insane", ......I’m right here in this glass

How come you still say you can’t see me smile back?

Very well written. I love your work I always have to think on it and ponder. I was so happy you sent me to read this. Again I always seem to look at your work and see it differently than most. I am probly wrong on my take but here goes. I read a bit of our current state of the world. IT is us in charge of our freedoms because we are told so but each and everyday we get lost. In another choice being ripped from us. Are we really happy in the current state we are in? Violence, poverty and people no longer caring? Ok enough rambling on very well written as always.

And when one looks in the glass, the image reflected is not always the one we want the world to see, or what the world is able to see as we are held within the constraints of our self image.

At times, we might try to be honest, free, but in our own minds we are still bound to the past, to the south side of the pasture, a life of layers, doors behind the doors.

Democracy is freedom, but the master controls the mental monopoly that holds us hostage. You ask, have you seen the path that leads you from your dreams? Or are you as I am.....just wanting to tip the scale, but actually causing it to dip even lower, another door locked, making you think I am insane? .....

and you cry.....I am not insane, I have tried to do all the right things, go to the right places, be what I am supposed to be, but I am still held in alarm, fear, because of what I think you see!

Very deep, and philosophical write Jason....just exquisite!
