Owned By Alarm

Owned By Alarm

A Poem by Jason

Safe. Warm. Owned by alarm.

Swallowed by the storm

Yet safe from democracy

Saved by the satisfaction of

All of our reactions; so tough

Wrapped up in a mental monopoly

Regret nothing as you stand in that dust

And pray to the fire, as you hide from dusk

I feel that I’ve felt what I found before

But all that I found was there is a door behind the door

And forward and onward; Awkward and scorned

May we have been so alone, since the day we were born?

Somehow, I found the time within my mind to rescue ME

Have you seen the path that leads you from your dreams?

Forged at the bottom of your vision it reads…

Will you take my hand and follow the beast?

Gunshots blaze from the south side of the pasture

Shall we still claim to be of democratic master?

Now that I’ve opened myself to my losses, I can see

That behind every door is a mirror, and me

With a smile and a wink, as a symbol that I failed

I feel that shutting the door should only tip the scale

I’m not insane, I swear I’m not really dreaming…

I’m not really here, soon you too shall be seeing…

I’m not insane, I swear I have passion…

Although you may think in a different fashion

Without a mirror and a door, you couldn’t fathom

But I swear I’m not insane, just close your eyes and imagine

"I’m not insane", ......I’m right here in this glass

How come you still say you can’t see me smile back?

Very well written. I love your work I always have to think on it and ponder. I was so happy you sent me to read this. Again I always seem to look at your work and see it differently than most. I am probly wrong on my take but here goes. I read a bit of our current state of the world. IT is us in charge of our freedoms because we are told so but each and everyday we get lost. In another choice being ripped from us. Are we really happy in the current state we are in? Violence, poverty and people no longer caring? Ok enough rambling on very well written as always.

The title of this piece is brilliant, and there is an interesting mix of violence, politics, and insanity.

This piece has a unique flow about it, like waves crashing and then retreating. Bravo on this one.

Good poem, very good. A hidden message sort of poem, yes?

As one looks at the mirror, he questions the existence of the other. So much like the reflection, democracy seems non-existent. It's given to all but maneuvered by one. This is an insightful write, Jason.

Wow. This piece is wonderful. Actually, while reading it, I mentally set your words to music and in my head the song sounded great. I love the lyrical way in which you wrote this. Thanks for being so gifted.

The ending took me by suprise for some reason, its very climatic in a sense. Great work as always.

I feel that this poem may have something to do with allowing our own fears perhaps, hold us captive. I mean, a decision to be made becomes nearly impossible from our confused reservation. I don't know. I'm probably completely off about this. Heh. I usually am.

Nice very nice your words tease us, invite us to look beyond what we
think reality is and explore who we are. I always hear where one door
closes another opens.....but to what? Was the door that was closed
suppose to be the one to lead us somewhere? Should we stay and fight
to open it? Or walk through the door that is wide open that could possibly
be a trap. I see confusion in this poem of choice choosing a 'lesser' evil to
get to a slighty better good. Survive by the errors and errands we fail
in order to find a way to succeed.....Very nice and nicely done I leave
this poem better then when I came...

I really enjoyed the way that you used wordplay, i wont even think of using your words in a work of my own but some ideas and flowing of words was really cool and just added a whole notther element into the poem. extremely well done by my standards, if that counts for anything.
