Empty Bottle

Empty Bottle

A Poem by Jason
"

A poem I wrote as I reflected on a time when I thought everything was perfect, only to find out the opposite.

"

Empty Bottle

There she is…

I found her in a bottle

The sound of the ocean

Covered in my dottle

And the wind’s picking up

To blow her away

Ashes will scatter and be lost

I’m afraid…

Cold breezes of winter air

Blow across your long hair

It Smiles like a sunset

And I am like the glare

At the bottom of this bottle,

Blinded not to see

Eyes forever closed

I chase a tired dream

With every breath I breathe

And every night that wakes

I reassure your love

Assuming blinded faith

Digging and clawing

The sand at your feet

But the hole I am digging

Is a grave I’ve made for me

As I reflect upon a time

When my love was known simply

As my present reflection

Like this bottle...

It’s empty

Oh, and Dottle is the wet and sour-smelling mass of unburned tobacco found at the bottom of a tobacco pipe....for anyone who questions.

...I'm not quite sure I get what this poem is saying? Maybe it's really simple and I am--yet again--not being the brightest crayon in the box...but I've read it three times now and I don't get it? I'm having trouble really picturing the scene in my head. But for the record, the poem flows really well. It's easy to read. :)

I love this...You put you in it and your feeling are over flowing in this poem. In our life we think things are perfect. But in reality nothing is ever perfect. But we have someone to fall back on when things do get out of hand. We have your Lord/Savior. I don't know if you believe but if you do know that He is always there. We as humans may not be able to see Him in human from but that is were faith comes in. To recieve His grace we have to believe. This was a great write. I enjoyed reviewing this poem. I will be looking for more poems from you in the near future.

Humbly,
Jwana Creer Yeshua
