I Just AmA Poem by Ian FarawayA poem I will recite outloud in a school SLAM contest.I am not a warrior Or a lifesaver I am not special Or another face in a crowd That is the conclusion I came to "Why are you so depressed?" A friend asked And I told them my story, my life "Someone your age shouldn't have to go through that" "Well," I replied," I would be worse off if I didn't" "How so?" "Becuase I learned a lesson in life" I am not optimistic Or pessimistic I am not dumb Or smart That is the conclusion I came to "Young man, why do you always seem upset?" An elder man once asked And I told him my story, my life "How do you live?" He asked "I live for others. To be there when others aren't" "You are very brave" He finished I am not brave Or a coward I am not immature Or mature I have told my story time and time again To all who were interested Not for sympathy, but for knowledge Hoping my words, my life, would change people's views To encourage them to live life and help others I am not a warrior Or a lifesaver I just am © 2011 Ian FarawayReviews
