Don't Tread On MeA Poem by Ian FarawayA motto from our ancestors of the original 13 colonies.I see the hate in your eyes I feel the resentment in disquise I sense the dark clouds in the sky But all you see is me on the outside
Don't look that way at me I've been through s**t you can't believe So before you label what you see Take a look on how I used to be
This is my life, my story You have no right to look at me dirty With any luck, I'll live to see thirty How dare you judge without knowing me
I never knew a true family But you hang out with yours by the sea Why should I let you see the real me When your whole life evolves around happy
You have family and friends All I have is paper and pens For years, I've made my life make pretend Forgetting to tie my loose ends
What's your excuse for looking at me that way? Don't say you spaved out because you do it every day You don't know how much I don't say If I said it all, your mind and heart will melt away
So next time you see someone like me Give the situation your sensitivity Because I can almost guarantee That they, too, have a story © 2011 Ian FarawayReviews
