Monster

Can you feel the changes

I feel blood boil

Underneath my skin

I feel my sanity

Fade slowly from within

 

Smiles turns to frowns

As ice forms around my heart

Gleaming eyes turn dark

How did this all start

 

Skin crawls

As I feel the changes

Everything I use to be

Turns to ashes

 

Looking at myself in the mirror

I see a complete stranger

Someone inside fighting it

But lose against the growing anger

 

Stop me from being this thing

Before it is too late

Can you kill

What I didn’t want to create

 

I feel myself fading

As this thing takes control

I slowly go numb

It’s like I lost my soul

 

I need a hero

To kill this monster

And save me on the inside

Before I grow colder

 

Screams of anger

Whimpers of pain

Total blackness

As little remains

I really liked the stranger/anger visual rhyme, but in general the rhyme scheme seemed to be all over the place. The inner-struggle concept is nice, but I think I would work on how exactly to describe it.

A very real feel on the insides... like the many dark tones that contrast the light as we travel through puberty and adolescence when we come to grips with the possibility of an other self that resides within us and seeks expression.
