Curse or gift?A Poem by Ian FarawayA little emotional because getting images out onto paper pisses me offDon’t bother looking at me I’m just a kid in a corner Imagining all the places I’ll be Writing them down on pieces of paper Some say it’s a gift I say it’s a curse Making images through words With the flow of this pen Words can’t express the difficulty I have Living in reality While my mind and heart is in its own world It makes the pain of reality worse Desires and dreams Living in a world of pure imagination Locked up inside Struggling to become free The window that it slips through Is small and hard to control I try my best to open it But I can only do so much Emotions rumble beneath And I have to write to ease it But I can only write so much All this passion just keeps building I’m just one man Whose pain has become his ‘gift’ Now it’s spinning out of control And I can’t stay on track So I take in the pain Pain brings feeling Feelings creates an image The image tries to be written down So don’t look at the kid Whose world is nothing like reality And only way to ease the desire is to write Don’t bother looking © 2011 Ian FarawayReviews
