SuicideA Poem by Ian FarawayEven the heart contemplates itThere’s just so much pain Throbbing inside my chest Almost like a knife went in And went through the heart My heart brightened Whenever she showed her face The sound of her voice making it purr Regardless of the mockery she showed Unwanted, unloved Kept by her when she tried to push it away “It’s not love. It’s a phase.” She yelled at the saddened heart Hurt became hate My heart withdrew in shame Shame of loving her Shame of the damage she had dealt The dark night To keep the world blind The windy sky To keep the world deaf My heart My lost, broken friend Steps to the edge And thinks of her Shattered and sad My heart spreads its arms And throws itself forward That night it committed suicide Now I’m picking up what’s left Each piece, another reminder Of why it happened And who pushed this innocent heart away © 2010 Ian FarawayAuthor's Note
