Happy Birthday Dad

Happy Birthday Dad

A Poem by Ian Faraway
"

Here's a poem I wrote for my father for his birthday. We've been through rough times but I still love him. This poem's for him.

"
Almost three years have past
And we still managed to last

I want you to know one thing
That we will be everlasting
I know life hasn't treated you well
Put yourself out there and tried to sell
Just me, you, and different girls
Life put is in a big whirl

What I did was pretty low
I saw the pain in your eyes
But you're a proud man and didn't let it show
When you're down, look towards the skies
Chances are I'm looking there
Just know I love you
And leaving home was a lot to bare
And I know it hurt you too

So happy birthday, Dad
And this is me telling you
Don't let life make you sad or mad
I love you

A powerful poem. Hard not to hurt the good people in a life. Sometime forgiveness is a easy as re-entering the door you left. I like the emotion and the ending. Forgiveness and love is the key to a good life. A excellent poem.

Well done no errors as far as I can tell. Awe that was so sweet and Father's day so close too. Well done I could feel the emotions of love in your words. You descriptions and words of metaphors and similes played wonderfully. Well done and keep up the excellent work.

(This is my first review)

All I can say is, "Wow." I decided to give this piece a try because coincidentally, today is my own father's birthday, and to be completely honest, if it wasn't for that fact alone, I most likely wouldn't have even bothered with reading it. However, I certainly am glad that I did, as it turned out to be a more than worthwhile (if also quite short) read! The second stanza is what grabbed me the most, my favorite few lines specifically are:

"When you're down, look towards the skies
Chances are I'm looking there
Just know I love you
And leaving home was a lot to bare
And I know it hurt you too"

Well done!

Respect,

Beautiful. I wish I had my dad in my life but I guess his lost. Loverly write. I love the lines:

"When you're down, look towards the skies
Chances are I'm looking there
Just know I love you"

Strong lines and strong emotion throughout the poem.

Simply poetry from the heart "And leaving home was a lot to bare.", takes a strong soul to step out of your own shoe's and into another's. Good write.
