Self-Discovery

Self-Discovery

A Poem by Ian Faraway
"

I wrote this after reading a little bit into what a "spiritual journey" is all about. It's not as easy as everyone seems to think.

"

Hello, fellow wanderer
Are you lost like me?
I’ve been lost for years
Searching for myself
Have you lost yourself, too?

Most of my journey has been cold
Until I met a wise woman
Who claimed I was simply discovering myself
It seemed quite silly to me
Until she told me what it was

Self-discovery isn’t a light bulb
You and I seem to know this best
It’s a destructive process
That collapses everything “known”
But it leaves the agonizing question:

“Who am I?”

You are you
And I am me
But what does that even mean?
Who are you underneath all the layers
That you are starting to peel away?

Are you the pain that you must face
Or the sadness that you must confront?
Maybe these are just layers as well.
I ask because I do not know
My fellow wanderer, do you know?

This really is a valid questions and I believe it really is about peeling away the layers. I also wonder if we try too hard to figure it out based on the world we live in when maybe, just maybe it goes way deeper and we're just too blind to see. Ultimately our soul is a spirit but we don't know how to nourish and feed it, although I like to believe LOVE is the answer. Learn what Love is and how to "live it" and I think you will find you no longer feel like you're wandering aimlessly but actually heading in the right direction! Cheers!

Life make us make new places and new life. I believe a good thing. I liked the above lines. I do believe all life does connect. Thank you Ian for sharing the excellent poetry.
