Broken Man

Broken Man

A Poem by Ian Faraway

If a woman is broken
There is a man who wants to help
He's sad when she's sad
He'll hold her until the pain
Fades away like a memory
He'll pick up the pieces
And spend the time
To put the fragile pieces
Back together until she's whole
He'll whisper to her
"No one will hurt you anymore"
As she falls asleep
In his protective arms

If a man is broken
There's no woman who wants to help
He's sad but can't show it
He'll hold himself trying to make the pain
Fade away like an illusion
He'll try to pick up the pieces himself
Only to drop
                   Those
                              Fragile pieces
He'll whisper to himself
"Maybe someday, a woman will save me"
As he falls asleep
In his own arms

I think it's true that women see "broken men" as a nuisance - they are ex;pected to be less emotional than women. Personally I have always found a certain attraction to broken men and I have a tendency to want to fix them. . . this is a good example of the ways between men and women.
