As HumansA Poem by Ian FarawayI'm sort of a hypocrite on some accounts but I still notice these things. Are we, as humans, incapable of thought
To the point where we live off of other peoples' philosophies? Are we, as beings, so greedy and selfish That we're willing to destroy all economies Just so we can die with a little bit more money YOLO shouldn't be an excuse To do something stupid and reckless It should be an incentive To go out and find happiness (As long as you're going to live by someone's song) Hate is too commonly used today Without thought of what it really means While everyone is scared to say love Is this the message we pass on to our teens That look up to us as role models and examples Now all we have are abbreviated words And cell phones with mistaken meanings Are we running out of things to say Or are we mindless robots without feelings? Is no one else seeing what I'm seeing?! I can't remain silent while recess Is a bunch of kids sitting and playing on iPhones Texting 'lol' with straight faces I swear today's society is a bunch of mindless drones That cares too much about stranger's opinions on the web The web is a vast place where you can do a lot Yeah, so is a place called 'OUTSIDE' It's a magical place where you meet new people Where being human and fun can still collide Without losing saliva over screens and keyboards While we're outside, can we care more about the world Instead of how many likes you have on your Facebook post About how bad your day has been going and about that cute boy And a like or two will change your mood AT MOST But whose gonna show some love to people that need it? © 2013 Ian FarawayReviews
