Battling Myself

Battling Myself

A Poem by Ian Faraway
"

More deep feelings of darkness I haven't written in years

"

Once darkness consumes you

A scary quiet falls over

But the lack of noise is replaced

By something far worse

Something like a flesh eating virus

Eating itself from the inside out

Why should you care

If I'm battling myself

I'll scream my rage and pain

But noises go nowhere in darkness

Tears will shed from these eyes

Eyes that reveal a shattered soul

A soul that once shined brighter than the sun

With the death of its light, everything grows cold

I'm losing

The battle against myself

The struggle of mind takes its toll

Seemingly dead eyes under heavy eyelids

I can no longer afford to care

For those who have been close for so long

Now they're more distant than strangers

Yet they are clueless of my struggle

I'm lost

In the battle against myself

Hardest battle to win is to control thoughts and mind. Sometimes hard to find reasons to get out of bed. The poem description was direct and strong. I could feel the struggle. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.
