From The Top, She Flew

From The Top, She Flew

A Poem by Whitney Kleinhuizen

Lifted above, drugged

Divine blood

The heat closing above everything

Higher

Seeking ecstasy

Watching slivers of light

Waters

Hanging above all

Dreams forgotten

Heart no longer sees

The night-blooming jasmine

Reaching

Strong

The dead soared

Delivered

Sleepy night and cool air

The feverish night left horrors in her eyes

Her bedroom fiery

Tiny hearts pale

Candles hanging

Cigarettes warning

The faces, sleep-starved

Burn

Photographs flicker a soft glow

Feel the souls looking down

Tangled bodies beating

Souls conjured up

Someone's heart lays on the four-poster bed

Azalea's scattered among the silk canopy

A light breeze in the air

Standing on a tall building

Caught in the night

Invaded

She looks away

The faintest souls

Someone's lips

From the top, she flew

About
I write out of expression. I don't know all the "rules of writing" and quite honestly don't really care. I write what I know. I write what I feel. I write beyond the eyes. I write from the heart. A.. more..
