ConclusionA Chapter by William HagermanHere you will find the conclusion to my researchWith
the passing of new laws that aide the LGBTQ community, universities have had to
accommodate to support them. Many public institutions did their part and made
changes to help protect LGBTQ students, but many private, religious
institutions have failed to make changes to support these students. Today,
there are many differing opinions regarding the pressing issue if religious
universities should be allowed to receive Title IX exemptions which allow them
to legally discriminate against LGBTQ identified students. The research shows
that these religious institutions are trespassing their boundaries because of
the oppression they are causing like the stories which are found in Harding
University’s HU Queer Press and Jeff Chu’s book Does Jesus Really Love Me? As well, these universities are
overstepping their boundaries because their religion does not permit the
discrimination of the LGBTQ community, as validated by Dr. Donald Haynes and
John Shore. In the end, no matter gender, race, age, or sexual orientation there
is hope in a loving God above, and a hope for better days to come. “For I
consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with
the glory that is to be revealed to us” (Romans 8:18). © 2016 William Hagerman |
