Three Little Words

Three Little Words

A Poem by W. Barrett Munn
"

It’s not the 18th century anymore

"
A time machine from then to now
three words removed, disavowed
even in 1800 sounded foul
three little words, thy, thee, and thou.

Thy jest thou sayeth vexes thee?
thou hath writ thy shorter poem
and the three little words thee has foresaken.
To be or not to be...that is thy question...
I would have had trouble living in that century and trying to talk like they did.
I would be saying "it doth flummox me to talk as thee expects of thy friend."
