(780) Cinquain

A Poem by W. Barrett Munn
"

Cinquain is syllabic verse in a 24682 structure.

To die
for country is
still death; to live without
country is death wearing a bad

I think I've written a few sometime long ago, maybe over twenty years. Might try my hand at it again. I like how you were able to pull out a coherent poetic message without it sounding like gibberish, which is how I mostly read this form from others.

unlike most i have seen or read
a call not made but clear message doth ring
life on one's knee is a bruise earned
rather than the honor of warrior worn

no kidding around i am enjoying your offerings and shall read each as if it is the first taste of knowledge gained

I celebrate you, Syr Winston,

It has long been my contention that when one undertakes to compose poetry in structured form, it should be according to the rules, as is humanly possible … which you've accomplished with your Cinquain in exemplary fashion.
Furthermore, the sheer brilliance of delivering such an impactfully clear, concise message, sans a smidgen of ambiguity … which, by virtue of forced compliance with meter, this form is notorious for. But, by sheer original creativity of poetical voice and in utilizing smooth syntax and seamless enjambment, you've enviously avoided.

Splendid work, Dear Poet … very much respected and enjoyed.
Thank you sincerely! ⁓ Richard🖌

This is an interesting poem, to die for country is still death. But to live without patriotism and for the country is like a symbol of death in the sense that it seems this country doesn't even exist or have anything great about it, just a piece of land. The cinquain form of poetry is interesting, short but a powerful form! Thanks for sharing!
