Butterfly

A Poem by W.H.Weckel
"

Of course it is in metaphor but definitely about a woman I love. Love is arduous yet enticing ...the patient being stands to profit handsomely...so pardon me whilst you read..lol

Butterfly

by W.H.Weckel   c 2007

I found you precious caterpillar,
let you walk about my hand,
shared my world with you, all that I had,
you, playfully defiant, refusing my offer of love.
Not quite sure of the treasure I found,
there and then I determined to love you.
I'd give you my heart my blithesome friend,
yet you were still a larva.
Even now I see your latent potential,
the depths of a soul so deep,
a wellspring of passion and benevolence so high
that no man has ever reached the heights you possess.
You conceal your heart from me
as you spin your temporary abode.
I wait in anguished silence, knowing,
the moment you burst forth from your
silken shelter, you are free.
You will float away unfettered
to a haven far off.
I will see you no more.
The time has come, my sorrow past
expectantly I wait, as a Mother in labour
to view the wonder of creation.
Emerged, a butterfly, purposeful, glorious
fluttering your wings in celebration,
painted with the colours of the sun,
you radiate magnificence.
Fly!
Forever my love is with you,
forever my friend.
